Operation: Give Big Dogs A Break

Dis week's Be the Change for Animals challenge is Operation: Give Big Dogs A Break. Lots of people like to travel with der pets, and more hotels den ever are allowing dogs. But da majority have weight restrictions – some as low as 20 pounds. Dat means lots of dogs can't go along with der families on vacation. GoPetFriendly.com and AndASmallDog.com have teamed up to encourage hotels to lift der weight restrictions and allow big dogs. You can help by signing da petition below. Da goal is to reach a 1000 signatures. Please help because big dogs deserve vacations too!

  1. I think this is a great cause. We have to take a trip soon and Girl has been frustrated finding hotels that accept pets (and I'm only 16 lbs!). The ones that do tend to charge non-refundable "deposits" (it's not really a deposit, then is it, it's a fee) from $50-$100. Even if I don't pee one drop on the floor we still have to pay that extra charge. I think more hotels are allowing pets and the situation is improving...but we still have a ways to go.

  5. Dear Bunny,

I found your blog through the blog hop and I'm so glad that I did!

I used to raise/show rabbits a few years ago in the 4-H, but when my parents divorced I had to sell them all. I miss them very much and would like to get another one day soon.

I've only ever had one mini-lop, but he was the sweetest out of all the rabbits I'd had, and I had plenty!

Layla would like to thank you for bringing this petition to light. We'll definitely be signing it. It's very upsetting to us that even though she's a large dog, she has her Canine Good Citizen certificate, she's been temperament tested by the American Temperament Test Society and is a Therapy Dog to both children and cancer patients, but because she isn't 20 pounds or less might not be able to stay in a hotel. We'll definitely be signing it and passing it along.

I'm very glad to find your blog, and I'll be checking back!
