P.L.A.Y. Warm Bellies Initiative

I was just over on Doggies and Stuff checking out a product review of P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyles and You) dog beds, and while I was there I also learned about their new donation program: the Warm Bellies Initiative.

The folks at P.L.A.Y. are committed to helping animals in need, and they believe that every pet deserves a warm and cozy place to sleep. That’s why they’ve partnered with Petfinder Foundation on the Warm Bellies Initiative to help homeless pets stay comfortable while they wait for their forever homes.

Every time you purchase an Artist or Original Collection pet bed on www.PetPlay.com (or at participating retailers) they will donate a Special Edition Chill Pad to a pup in need!

According to the ASPCA, 5-7 million companion pets enter a shelter every year. Many of those pets were once beloved family members. Being in a shelter can be extremely scary for pets - the unfamiliar smells, sounds and surroundings often cause anxiety and depression for a lot of animals. Just having a warm mat instead of a cold concrete floor makes a world of difference.

To ensure that they help around the country, the Warm Bellies Initiative will donate to a shelter or rescue group in a different region of the United States each month. The Petfinder Foundation and P.L.A.Y. will determine which shelter or rescue group will receive the donation based on need and availability.

But customers and fans also have a say in which shelters receive the Chill Pads. Every quarter they will hold a "Voter's Choice" where Facebook fans can nominate and vote for their favorite shelter or rescue group. To nominate your favorite shelter, contact GivingBack@petplay.com.
