The Yellow Dog Project

Have you heard about The Yellow Dog Project? It’s is a global movement for parents of dogs that need more space. There are many reasons a dog may need more space: health issues, training, rehabilitation, fear or being reactive around other dogs.

If you see a dog with a yellow ribbon or something yellow on the leash, this means the dog needs more space. Please maintain your distance or give the dog and his person time to move out of your way.

The Yellow Dog Project began in Sweden on June 27, 2012 and has quickly expanded to more than 20 countries including Norway, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Slovakia, The Netherlands, Canada and the United States.

Through social media, awareness and education, The Yellow Dog Project seeks to remind people to ask before petting a dog and to help them recognize the signs of a dog that's not interested.
