via Care2 - Cat Pals Inc. has been managing the feral cat colonies in Hollywood's North Beach Park (Florida) for over 15 years. Now their cats are being targeted by a local chapter of the Audubon Society. They will settle for nothing less then removal.
If you are a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) proponent, you know that if they kill these cats more cats will be dropped, multiply, and begin the cycle again. However, this time there will be no volunteers to manage, feed, spay/neuter and vaccinate the cats; and no amount of Parks money will trap and kill them all every year.
Please sign this petition asking the Broward County Parks and Recreation Commission to allow Cat Pals to continue their work on behalf of the feral cat population in Hollywood's North Beach Park. Again, another lovely post, Miss Bunny Jean. You're kindness to all animals is inspirational.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting we truly appreciate it. We will not give up this fight.
ReplyDeleteAnother important issue. Can you believe in WI there was talk for ahwile about shooting feral cats and making it legal because they kill birds? Thank G that didn't go through - yet anyway. Fortunately we ramped up the spay and neuter program to control the populations of feral cats. For now the Autobon Soiciety is happy! I happen to love birds and cats. I know the two can exist together with proper help and management by controlling the feral cat population by spay and neuter programs.
