Connecticut went to the dogs on Friday evening, June 28!
The Wigglebutt Wedding between Dexter James Bryant and Zoe Elizabeth Sorensen was held as a fundraising and awareness event to assist Life’s Little Paws Cocker Spaniel Rescue in their mission to save dogs’ lives and help them on their journey to forever homes.
Parents of the happy couple hosted an invitation-only gala red carpet affair at the Baldwin Center in Stratford, Conn.
What started out as an idea to have a small backyard wedding to raise funds for Life’s Little Paws Cocker Spaniel Rescue evolved into a full-scale dog-friendly formal affair covered by media, sponsored by pet-friendly businesses and attended by celebrities in the dog world.
With 120 guests in attendance, the Wigglebutt Wedding was a celebration of saving dogs’ lives. The bride was literally rescued by Life’s Little Paws on the day she was to be euthanized.
“Dogs inspire me, and this is our way of giving back,” said pet industry specialist and mother of the groom, Carol Bryant. “Every dollar counts and every wag is because someone cared enough to make it happen. These days, you need to be creative about fundraising, and a dog wedding certainly qualifies.”
Sponsors stepped up to lend a hand and donate their time, services and goods in support of the Wigglebutt Wedding. Canine couturier Anthony Rubio custom designed the bride and groom’s apparel, and Spoiled Pup Boutique hand-crafted tuxes and gowns for the bridal party of 10 dogs. Caterer and mother of the bride Val Sorensen of Kiss-the-Chef-Catering provided delicacies for all guests.
The canine couple commissioned artist Missy Johnson of Dogs for the Paws to create an official logo and designs. Official photography was provided by Luminaria Photography. Plenty of dogs were in high fashion with Pawvogue as a Gold sponsor.
Spinning the tunes for the evening was Touch of Class DJ Mike Guariglia. Adding to sparkle and elegance of the evening, Table Art Event Designs displayed a custom life-size replica floral art sculpture of the bride and groom. Topping the Bubba Rose dog wedding cake were custom-made replicas of the bride and groom from Miniature Dog Artist Lucy Maloney.
Guests of the wedding were lodged at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Stratford so that they could engage in a post-wedding breakfast and private photo shoot on Saturday, June 29. Paul Nathan, who recently released the book "Couture Dogs of New York", also photographed wedding guests for his next book. While enjoying their weekend of wags and fun, dogs wore the Sony Action Cam for a dog’s eye view of the festivities.
